Professional Experience

Professional experience gives preservice educators the opportunity to put theory into practice.

To provide you with the most relevant and valuable placement experiences, the Professional Experience Office sources a variety of placements, complementary to your field of specialisation.

In initial teacher education programs, professional experience is a required component and essential for teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT). Our Early Childhood specialisations are accredited with the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

It is a requirement for the course that all preservice teachers complete all of their Professional Experience days. This means that if there is a public holiday that falls during a professional experience placement, you are required to add those days directly onto the end of the placement to complete the required number of days. Please take this into consideration when making arrangements for your placement to ensure you can attend the full number of days.
